The city is gearing up for a double treat with Ganesh and Ramzan festivals to be celebrated on Saturday.

As Id announcement was made on Friday evening, the environs in old city witnessed hectic activity with Muslim devout involving in last minute shopping.

On the other hand, youth and residential welfare organisations from the Hindu community busied themselves to make elaborate arrangements for celebrating the 11-day Ganesh festival.

Preparations are on with youngsters putting up pandals and decorating them for installation of the Ganesh idols. Scenes of youth organisation members carrying Ganesh idols in vehicles and raising slogans of “Ganapati Bappa Morya” were witnessed through out the day.

“It's good that both Ganesh and Ramzan festivals would be celebrated on the same day. The festivals should be celebrated in good spirit and help in spreading peace and communal harmony among Hyderbadis,” said Bhagyanagar Ganesh Utsav Samithi secretary Bhagvanth Rao.

While, city dwellers are looking forward for the festivities, the city police are making massive security measures by installing door-frame metal detectors at various pandals and deploying additional forces in sensitive areas.

Arrangements were also being made for smooth conduct for the immersion of Ganesh idols at NTR Gardesn and Tank Bund.
