HYDERABAD: An inter-State foreign liquor smuggling racket was busted by the Prohibition and Excise Department on Friday by arresting 12 persons.
An amount of Rs. 3 lakh, 295 foreign liquor bottles worth over Rs. 10 lakh and five vehicles including an Innova, Mahindra XUV and Vento were seized from the arrested. A team of P&E officials were inspecting vehicles on a tip-off when they intercepted two persons and found some liquor bottles in their possession.
Based on their inputs, raids were conducted at places like Film Nagar and Banjara Hills, P&E Assistant Commissioner P. Madhav said.
Among the arrested was kingpin of the racket Shiva Patel from Hyderabad.
