TS urges Centre to set up more ESI Hospitals in districts

The Telangana Government has requested the Centre to set up 50 to 100-bedded ESI Hospitals in districts and a super speciality ESI Hospital at Nirmal. The request was made by Telangana Minister for Housing, Law and Endowments A. Indrakaran Reddy in his meeting with Union Minister for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya here on Thursday.

In response to the request, the Union Minister stated that he would soon depute Labour Welfare Commissioner to visit the State and take up initiative for setting up more ESI Hospitals in Telangana.

Mr. Reddy requested special allocation of funds from the Union Labour Ministry for the welfare of beedi workers in Karimnagar, Nizamabad, Adilabad, Warangal and Medak districts.

The ministers discussed ‘Godavari Pushkaralu’ to be held later this year and about the arrangements being made by the State Government. He urged the Union Minister to use his good offices and get funds released from the Centre for making arrangements for the event held once every 12 years. He explained that funds were required for making bathing ghats and creating other amenities for pilgrims attending pushkaralu at Basar, Dharmapuri and Bhadrachalam.

On the issue of housing, the Telangana minister detailed the status of housing projects being implemented now including Indira Awas Yojana in rural areas and Rajeev Gruha Kalpa in urban areas. The Union Minister assured all cooperation to Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s plan to make Hyderabad a slum-free City.
