The State Government is actively working on setting up a precision engineering park for helping small scale entrepreneurs.

TS Industrial Infrastructure Corporation Chairman G. Balamallu said proposals to this effect were under preparation and land would be allotted to the park in consultation with Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao and Industries Minister K.T. Rama Rao.

The development follows a representation submitted by the small entrepreneurs seeking allotment of 135 acres land in Ghatkesar for setting up of their ventures.

They represented to the Government about the problems they were facing in operating their units from the rented premises and this was also depriving them of the opportunity to avail the benefits assured by the Government. Mr. Balamallu reiterated that the Government was equally focussed on promoting small enterprises and had initiated several measures to help them on the lines of the major units.

Accordingly, land had already been earmarked at Dandumalkapuram in Yadadri district and Mr. K.T. Rama Rao was taking special interest in promoting these units.

The Government had concentrated its efforts in further enhancing the productivity in industrial clusters like Kapra which contribute major chunk of inputs to industries like the ECIL. Over 20,000 people were currently employed in more than 1,500 small units in Kapra industrial area while it provided indirect employment to another 30,000 persons.

He acknowledged the difficulties being faced by small enterprises in availing the benefits like incentives provided on power, capital cost, sales tax and other fronts.

The request from the entrepreneurs for allotment of land for setting up small units was under active consideration of the Government and 299 acres of assigned land in Madaram had been identified for the purpose, he said.
