TS attracts Rs. 25,972 crore investments with iPASS

December 23, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 03:18 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

Telangana Minister for Industries Jupally Krishna Rao has stated that investments worth over Rs. 25,972 crore have been cleared during the last six months, after the State Government introduced Telangana State Industrial Project Approval and Self-Certification System (TS-iPASS).

Speaking after issuing approval certificates to 14 investors in the fifth-phase of clearances given at State-level here on Tuesday, Mr. Rao said the investments were cleared from 1,013 units that had an employment potential of 76,314 personnel.

The approvals given on Tuesday were for investments of about Rs.1,119 crore and would create employment to 7,079 persons.

Secretary (Industries) Arvind Kumar said they were expecting flow of mega investments after April.

He attributed the delay in giving approvals to mega investors to the delay in submission of due-diligence by them as they would study the conditions on their own before planning to invest.

During an interaction with the investors who got the approvals, the minister said the government was ready to clear any obstacles faced by them in setting up industries but they too should abide by the guidelines in vogue, particularly with respect to pollution norms as he could see heavy smoke and dust from industrial units whenever he travelled outside the capital.

“We (the government) have trust in you (investors) and giving prior approvals before getting formal clearances from line departments. It’s for you to reciprocate by following the norms scrupulously,” the Minister told the investors.

On being asked about their feedback on TS-iPASS, several investors said: “Investment atmosphere is more conducive with improvements in the eco-system. Getting approval for setting up an industrial unit is very handy for other processes”.

However, they complained that they were still experiencing some delay in getting approvals from HMDA stating that there was an order to hold back approvals, particularly in the areas which were included in HMDA recently.
