The Brijesh Kumar Tribunal, Krishna Water Disputes Tribunal-II, on Thursday asked Telangana and Andhra Pradesh States to file their affidavits on the issue of water sharing during the lean water years by April 13.

During the hearing held in New Delhi, Tribunal Chairman Justice Brijesh Kumar and Members Justice Srivatsava and Justice Rammohan Reddy issued the directions following the Centre’s plea not to give further extension to the two Telugu-speaking States for filing their affidavits on sharing of water during the water deficit years.

The Tribunal asked the two States to file their views in the form of affidavits on how they suggest sharing of water, particularly release of water by the upper riparian States to lower riparian States, when the realisation of water is less than the dependable availability. The Tribunal also directed other parties in the dispute to file their counters by April 27 so that the next hearing could be held on May 4 and 5.
