Telugu Desam Party district president Arkala Narsa Reddy has accused the TRS Government of neglecting the irrigation projects in the old district of Nizamabad while focusing its attention on projects meant for benefitting other districts.
“We welcome the SRSP Restoration Scheme for which CM K. Chandrashekar Rao laid the foundation on the dam on August 10. But, how is it going to benefit the old district? Except a few villages in Balkonda, Morthad, Mendora and Kammarpally, nothing much would come from it for the district particularly,” he said while addressing a news conference, here on Monday. Instead, if the Chief Minister was serious enough and gave an honest thought for the benefit of the district, he should have completed the Pranahitha Packages - 20 to 22. Tunnel work of the Package-20 was complete by 80 per cent and with ₹ 200 crore, it could have been completed, giving water to the Manchippa-Kondem tank, he said.
“We are not against the SRSP Restoration Scheme. But Mr. KCR has forgotten his promise of dedicating the Singur water exclusively for the old Nizamabad district resulting in severe scarcity of water for agriculture here,” said the former MLC.
