Initiates talks with CPI on seat-sharing as part of electoral alliance

After shutting the door on the Congress, the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) on Monday initiated talks with the CPI on seat-sharing as part of an electoral alliance.

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao called up State secretary of CPI K. Narayana over phone to inform him that TRS leaders would meet him on Tuesday to fine-tune the alliance details. Meanwhile, in what could come as a shot in the arm for the TRS, former Congress MLA Jalagam Venkat Rao and YSR Congress leader from Manthani Putta Madhu joined the TRS at the party office. The joining of the two leaders was a low-key affair following the strict implementation of the election model code.

The Banjara Hills police on Sunday booked cases against Telugu Desam MLA G. Jaipal Yadav and two other leaders -- Rasamai Balkishan and V. Srinivas Goud -- for shifting crowds to the TRS office in convoys of vehicles against the limit prescribed by the Election Commission.

The police videographed the convoys and noted down the numbers of nearly 50 vehicles, it is learnt.
