Triple riding proved fatal for three students after the Karizma bike on which they were travelling rammed a road divider near HMT Company under Jeedimetla police station limits in the early hours of Saturday. The victims were residents of Suraram Colony.
Twenty-three-year-old Vinay Kumar, a graduate, left his home on his bike on Friday night saying that he was going to meet friends Vinod Raju (21) and M. Surender (21), both in B.Tech final year.
The trio then went to Punjagutta, where they partied till midnight, and returned to Suraram Colony.
At around 2.45 a.m., when they were returning home, the bike driver apparently lost control near HMT Colony and the vehicle rammed the divider, said Jeedimetla Inspector M. Sudarshan.
The injured students died by the time Jeedimetla police rushed there to shift them to a nearby hospital.
The bike rider was not wearing a helmet, the Inspector said.
The police registered a case and handed over the bodies to the family members after an autopsy at Gandhi Hospital mortuary.
Driver dies
In a separate incident, a 40-year-old driver died after the lorry he was driving got stuck in a pothole and overturned at Dundigal on Friday night. The victim, Somula, was a native of Balanagar in Mahabubnagar district.
The accident occurred when the lorry laden with bricks was going towards Miyapur from Narsapur, according to police.
