The website of Telangana legislature which had been so far available to users only in English was on Monday extended to Telugu and Urdu languages at a function to launch the trilingual platform in the Assembly.

The users will hereafter land on English portal by default but they can switch to Telugu and Urdu by option. Though the Telugu website was complete in all respects like the English one, only about 30 per cent of the work was done in Urdu.

Two additional features in the website for members and departments, both of which were password-protected, were also introduced. They related to confidential communication between legislature and members/departments respectively. A login for public to access members by e-mail was also installed. It was launched by Legislative Affairs Minister T. Harish Rao.

Assembly Speaker S. Madhusudana Chary launched the Telugu website while Legislative Council chairman K. Swamy Goud did the same for Urdu.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Harish Rao said the trilingual website of a legislature was the first of its kind in the country. The next initiative of Telangana legislature shortly would be to upload information about government programmes in Assembly constituencies.

Mr. Madhusudana Chary said the Telugu website would help rural masses to assess the performance of their MLAs.
