Tribal rights take centre stage

Demanding improvement in basic infrastructure, education and healthcare facilities for tribal hamlets across the state, the Telangana Joint Action Committee (T-JAC) chairman M. Kodandaram addressed the valedictory session of the 10-day padayatra of tribal students at Dichpally mandal headquarters on Saturday. He expressed concern over arbitrary acquisition of tribal lands by the government as well as private persons, notwithstanding Act 1/70, in the name of projects. He also drew attention to how successive governments have been acquiring lands from tribal farmers either at throwaway prices or without giving them reasons.
