Thermal Powertec Corporation of India Limited (TPCIL) will sign an MoU with Sembcorp Utilities Limited of Singapore here on Tuesday providing for setting of 1,320-MW capacity thermal power station at Krishnapatnam in Nellore district under the first phase of the project taken up by TPCIL.

This the third massive power project coming up at Krishnapatnam port, the first two being the “ultra mega project” under implementation by the Centre and the big one proposed by the AP Genco. Meanwhile, Union Petroleum & Natural Gas Minister Murli Deora, during a meeting the Chief Minister had with him at Delhi on Monday, gave a commitment that adequate gas would be allotted to Andhra Pradesh to enable it to meet its requirements towards the power projects and industries. The Chief Minister asked AP Genco to synchronise its newly constructed 500-MW thermal power station at Bhoopalapalli in a month.
