It was back to usual text messages, calling over the phone and working on the laptop for many users addicted to Blackberry.

The recent three-day outage had a significant impact on the workflow of professionals depending on the service that garnered preference owing to the real time push e-mail service and speed. For most of the IT professionals and businessmen who depend on the smartphone for chatting while at home and connecting with their 3 a.m. friends, it was a social disaster. And for people on the go, Blackberry has been a boon to stay connected, and thus the impact was greater. Harish Madhukurri, owner of the Hyderabad-based event management company terms the recent service glitch as chaos. “We had to call people and ask them what they were doing. We are travelling most of the time or in meetings and it helps to check the updates on BB, connect with concerned people needed for the work. It was a tough phase. Ideas come easy when you are on the Blackberry and in its absence it is difficult to come up with creative inputs,” says Harish.
