The controversial unauthorised constructions in Gurukul Trust lands at prime Madhapur seems to have taken its toll with government transferring some officials of the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).

Apart from the Chief City Planner G.V. Raghu, West Zone Commissioner S. Aleem Basha, in whose jurisdiction the Gurukul Trust lands fall, has been transferred.

The other planning officer transferred happens to be Additional Commissioner (Planning) P. Venkata Rami Reddy.

Mr. Reddy has been posted as the Director of Employment and Training while Mr. Basha has been asked to report to the Office of Commissioner and Director of Municipal Administration. In place of Mr. Raghu, Town Planning Additional Director S. Devender Reddy has been given the additional charge as the CCP.

Speaking to presspersons on Tuesday, GHMC Commissioner Somesh Kumar said the civic body would be more vigilant about the unauthorised constructions and ensure that appropriate actions are taken to prevent such structures from coming up in the city.

“At the same time, it is also the responsibility of builders to ensure they do not violate rules and come up with illegal buildings,” Mr. Kumar quipped.

N Convention issue

On the issue of film actor Akkineni Nagarjuna’s ‘N’ Convention which is said to have come up in the buffer zone of Thammidikunta, he said the civic body was yet to issue a notice of encroachment.

“We are ready to issue notice, we are waiting for the court case,” he said.

Recruitments

The Commissioner said that the monitoring aspects were also affected due to shortage of staff required and added that the government has agreed on immediate recruitments.
