Starting Monday midnight, users of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) will have to pay toll charges based on the distance travelled on the eight-lane stretch.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has decided to initiate the tolling process on the southern arc of the ORR from Pedda Amberpet to Patancheru. The user charges will be collected at 12 interchanges and for the purpose, 75 toll lanes are to be operated.
User fee
The user fee worked out as per the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) rates include per km toll of Rs. 0.82 for car/jeep, Rs. 1.33 for light commercial vehicles, Rs. 2.79 for bus/truck and Rs. 4.36 for multi-axle truck up to six axles.
Toll is to be collected only for vehicles plying on the main carriageway and not those using the service roads. The procedure to be adopted for tolling has a road user collecting a token at the entry point and pay at the exit, depending on the distance travelled.
The work of toll collection has been entrusted to PK Hospitality Services for a period of 18 months and the agency will arrange its own infrastructure such as toll booths, boom barriers, toll rate display boards and others, said the HMDA.
The agency also has been asked to ensure that the processing time for fee collection at the toll booth was not more than 30 seconds for a vehicle.
Toll will be collected at the following ORR interchanges:
Pedda Amberpet, Bongulur, Raviryal, Tukkuguda, Pedda Golconda , Shamshabad, Rajendranagar, APPA Junction, Nanakramguda, Kokapet, Edulanagulapally, and Patancheru.
