Tolichowki, Kandikal Gate RoBs ready

The GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer, Somesh Kumar, said on Saturday that the Tolichowki flyover has been completed in all respects and would be opened for public shortly by the Chief Minister, K. Chandrasekhar Rao. The Commissioner along with his senior officials inspected the flyover and mentioned that the total project cost of the flyover is Rs.38.41 crore. It consists of two spans - one from Mehidipatnam to Hi-tec City and second from Hi-tec City to Mehidipatnam to provide hassle-free travel for motorists. Its total length is 770 metres, carriage width is 11 metres and service road width is 7.5 mt.

Mr. Kumar pointed out that municipal corporation had to face several hurdles in taking up this flyover, including religious structures on the way, stiff resistance from property owners and also delay in shift of utilities like power lines, water pipelines and sewer lines. The work was started in November 2013.

Senior officials – N. Ravi Kiran, and S. Devender Reddy, Sridhar were present.

The GHMC also stated that the Kandikal Gate road over bridge built at a cost of Rs.22 crore too is ready for inauguration. Work on this project too has begun in June 2012 and the total length is 837.45 mt, carriageway width: 2x7.0 mt, service road width is 4.50 m, on either sides, an official press release said.

Once opened for the commuting traffic, it is expected to ease congestion on Charminar – Falaknuma - Chandrayanagutta roads and reduce the travelling distance. It will also provide good connectivity between Hyderabad to Shamshabad airport via Barkas.
