Sources said that three youngsters, one hailing from Karimnagar and two others from Palacole in West Godavari were nabbed after the ‘C’ batch of Air Intelligence officers found gold in batteries of four power banks and a measuring tape. The three persons were reportedly approached by a man in Dubai International Airport and asked to carry the packets to Hyderabad and hand it over to a contact, who was expected to call them on their mobile numbers. On arrival , the customs officials frisked them and on suspicion checked their baggage only to find the gold. The modus operandi, according to an official, was that the gold was carefully concealed in the batteries of the power bank. In all four power banks and a measuring tape in which gold was delicately concealed were recovered. The three persons claimed that they were tricked in to carrying the gold. While the man from Karimnagar was on his way back to home , the other two were returning home after they were cheated by an agent, who promised them employment in Gulf.
