Three youths mowed down by speeding car

May 16, 2013 11:01 pm | Updated November 16, 2021 10:18 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

They were riding merrily after attending a relative’s wedding at a village on the city outskirts. And before they could realise, a speeding car crashed into their motorbike, in a flash, in the late hours of Wednesday night.

Death was instant for Raju and Suresh. Their friend Nagaraju died a little later on the hospital bed. The three friends were aged just about 20 years.

“The tyre marks indicated that Nagaraju, who was riding the motorcycle, was dragged by the car for some distance,” Yacharam Inspector K. Ramulu said. The trio was heading to Yacharam, 50 km from here, after attending the marriage at Manthana Gourelli village.

The speeding Swift car, driven by an unidentified person, rushed on to them near a petrol bunk before making a screeching halt. Soon after the crash, the driver fled from the spot after abandoning the car in the middle of the road.

The youths hailed from Cherikonda village in Amangal mandal of Mahabubnagar district.
