A disturbing case of sexual assault on a 13-year-old girl by three minors came to light on Saturday, after her father found that she was six months pregnant in Bhavaninagar of Old City.

While a 16-year-old boy was arrested on the charge of repeatedly violating the girl, two other boys of his age were also held “for raping her” after threatening to reveal her “friendship with the former”, the police said. The three juveniles in conflict with the law were presented before the court.

The girl’s father used to work in a bangle store. Her mother used to be under sedatives as part of medication for some psychiatric ailment most of the time. The teenager was a friend of the 16-year-old boy’s sister. Nearly nine months ago, he sexually assaulted the girl when she came to his house to meet his sister. “Later, he continued to blackmail and violate her,” Bhavaninagar Inspector Y. Nageshwara Rao said.

The boy frequently visited the minor at her house. On noticing this, two other boys living next to the girl’s house caught the girl when she was alone and raped her, the Inspector said.

Recently, the girl’s father took her to a doctor as she complained of abdominal pain. After tests, the doctor confirmed that she was six months pregnant and carried a dead foetus. The girl was taken to Bharosa centre of Hyderabad police where her statement was video-recorded. “We spoke with the three boys and they had admitted to have violated her,” the Inspector said.
