July 29, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:41 am IST - HYDERABAD:

Three persons were hospitalised after inhaling chlorine gas that accidentally leaked at Snehapuri Colony on July 27. Emergency squad of the Central Chlorination Cell of the Hyderabad Metro Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) tried to replace the cylinder.

The leakage happened because the valve got jammed due to non-usage of the cylinder for a long time, a press release from the board informed. The press communiqué assured that emergency squad members take all precautionary measures by wearing protective gear when handling any of the 221 chlorination plants installed at water treatment plants, balancing reservoirs, and service reservoirs.
