According to police, Country Club had taken permission for running an amusement place at a spot called Under-Deck, but the management had reportedly converted it into a pub allowing customers to consume liquor beyond the stipulated time
The West Zone Police raided the Pulse Lounge at Country Club at Begumpet and nabbed three persons - pub manager Akulla Ananth, Pulse Lounge manager Vikraman and event manager Ajay - for allowing obscene dances.
The raids were carried out after police received a text message from event organisers, inviting customers to the party named ‘Gays and Guys’ at Pulse Pub.
They also received information that some amusement lounges at hotels in Banjara Hills and Jubilee Hills had been converted into pubs, allowing customers to consume liquor.
“We raided Pulse Pub, Under-Deck and the Spoil Pub. During searches at Pulse Pub, we noticed that over 60 customers, all belonging to high-profile families, indulging in obscene activities in an inebriated state. Thirty people were detained and released after granting them bail at the police station,” DCP (West) V. Satyanarayana said.
He added that cases were booked against Ananth, Vikraman and Ajay under Sections 294 (reciting or uttering obscene songs, ballads or words at or near any public place) of the IPC read with 34 of the AP Excise Act and 21/76 of the City Police Act. Cases were also booked against two more pubs - Under-Deck at Taj Banjara and Spoil Pub - for violating rules, the DCP said.
According to police, Under-Deck had taken permission for running an amusement place, but the management had reportedly converted it into a pub, allowing customers to consume liquor beyond the stipulated time of 11 p.m. Also, surveillance cameras installed on the premises had become defunct.
When police asked enquired about the non-functioning cameras, the management replied that rats had damaged the wires. The Spoil Pub staff also served liquor beyond the stipulated time in violation of norms, police said.
