The Nampally criminal court on Tuesday sentenced three persons and acquitted two in the attack on Gujarat police in front of the DGP office here in 2004.

A group of people resorted to violence when Mullah Naseeruddin was being taken away by the police in a case. A person was also killed when the police had resorted to police firing.

Motesham Billa and Shakeel were acquitted in the orders passed while Valiquddin, Baleeluddin and Shafique were sentenced to two years imprisonment. But, since the trio had already completed the time in prison they are likely to be released soon.

However, Hyderabad police special investigation team indicated that it would go for an appeal in the higher court against the verdict.
