Think out of the box: SCR GM

July 01, 2016 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - HYDERABAD:

South Central Railway General Manager Ravindra Gupta on Wednesday asked officers to explore new areas of activity and enhance the zone’s performance and look for innovative methods to improve productivity, while cutting costs at the same time.

At a meeting of principal heads of departments, Chief Workshop Managers and Divisional Railway Managers of Secunderabad, Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Guntur and Nanded, he said innovation was the way forward and that the zone needed to think and come up with out-of-the-box solutions to improve productivity. He wanted officials to compile innovative methods in the divisions and workshops and circulate the best practices to others to improve overall performance.

Sharing of best practices would help the zone in standardising them for all to follow, including preparation of master plans for railway stations for better passenger amenities, elimination of level crossings, enhance safety, speeding-up of trains and establishment of solar power plants.
