Thieves broke into the house of businessman Syed Saffiuddin Khan at Gopalnagar under Nacharam police station limits by breaking open the main door.

They took away gold ornaments weighing 12 tolas, silver articles and Rs.1.5 lakh cash. The theft came to light when the businessman’s family returned home on Sunday morning after attending a wedding at his relative’s house.

In a similar incident, burglars entered musical instruments repairer Ravi Verma’s house at Baghlingampally and escaped with 10 tolas of gold jewellery, 40 tolas of silver and cash.

The incident occurred while Mr. Verma and his family went to Basara on Saturday. Mr. Verma’s relative, who came to his residence on some work on Sunday morning, found the door’s broken lock and alerted him, police said.
