Pidatala Satyam Babu, who was recently acquitted by the High Court in the sensational Ayesha Meera murder case, urged the government to deliver justice to Ayesha Meera’s parents too as it was delivered in the case of ‘Nirbhaya’ in Delhi a few years ago.

Addressing a media conference here on Monday, Mr. Satyam Babu, who was here to collect his degree certificate from the B.R. Ambedkar Open University, thanked Ayesha’s parents profusely for standing by him since the beginning of his ordeal in 2008. “There is no Satyam Babu without Ayesha’s parents,” he said, seeking justice for the girl who was brutally murdered in her hostel 10 years ago.

Though he had been saying he had not committed the murder, the police did not listen to him, he said, and revealed that he received third degree torture for a week after arrest. “They threatened to kill my mother and sister, forcing me to confess,” he said, to a question why he had confessed to the killing once during the case. The police ‘coating’ had resulted in his legs being paralysed for some time, said Mr. Satyam Babu, still appearing weak and unstable.

President of Mala Sankshema Sangham Battula Ramprasad alleged that the government has not yet implemented the High Court judgement in totality. No action has been taken against the officials responsible as directed by the court, nor have the court expenses of ₹ 1 lakh been paid.

The police had implicated him in eight other cases, two of them of very serious nature, which had been quashed, he said.

A case under SC/ST (POA) Act will be lodged soon against the officials who falsely implicated Satyam Babu and tortured him, he said, and demanded that both Telangana and Andhra Pradesh governments take action against them. Ayesha Meera’s murder case should be reopened, he demanded.

Representations will be made to the Governor, National Human Rights Commission and National SC Commission, seeking appropriate action, he said.
