The Hindu ’s story on Shaik Attaullah — the boy who lost his right hand and lower limbs — in its edition dated August 1, has attracted lot of sympathy and support. The Helping Hand Foundation, which had taken up the cause of the boy, is now flooded with queries on fund donation.

Mount Mercy School in Brindavan colony announced a donation of Rs. 7,000. Most children responded spontaneously to the request of teachers and donated cash from their pocket money.

“One Hema Bindu, and another person from LIC Housing called to say that they are collecting funds and will be donating this to Attaullah,” said Mujtaba Hasan Askari of HHF. What stood out was the spirit and the compassion to help a fellow human in need. Mr. Askari thanked The Hindu for its help in highlighting Attaullah’s case.
