TGDA’s move irks hospital staff

January 29, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - HYDERABAD:

The staff members of Chest Hospital at Erragadda including senior nurses, paramedics and doctors have slammed the members of Telangana Government Doctors’ Association (TGDA) for extending cooperation to the government for shifting the hospital to Vikarabad. The Chest Hospital employees vowed to continue their fight against the government’s move to shift the hospital.

Senior doctors and other hospital workers maintained that none of them were informed about the meeting between the TGDA members and the Chief Minister. “This was clearly stage-managed because the TGDA did not take prior appointment of the Chief Minister. The meeting was held at very short notice. Nobody from the TGDA bothered to contact anybody from the Chest Hospital to know our views on the issue,” the members of the action committee to save Chest Hospital said.

They further said that they were not against the development.

“Instead of developing the existing hospital into a world class health facility, why kill it by shifting it to somewhere in the middle of a forest? Not a single doctor who attended the meeting with the Chief Minister on Wednesday belongs to or worked at the Chest Hospital,” committee members said.

The healthcare workers at the hospital also said that those TGDA members who assured the government of cooperation will be answerable.
