Based on the confession of Habeeb Mohammed, recently arrested by NIA officials for alleged links with terror outfit Islamic State (IS) and plans to execute terror attacks, the officials recovered 17 live rounds from a hidden location in the house. The third team scoured the Mee Seva centre christened Shalimar Online Seva at Talabkatta near Bhavaninagar.
This was run by Ibrahim’s brother-in-law Md. Nizaumuddin. A computer system and a scanner were seized from here. Iliyas, sources in NIA had said, used them for scanning the pledge for IS online. The arrested five Hyderabadis had assumed fictitious names for operational convenience with the IS handlers and the outfit’s commanders. Called Kunya (component of an Arabic name), these names were different for each of them. Muzaffar Hussain Rizwan of Talabkatta, one of the suspects, was referred to as Abu Hasan.
Ibrahim assumed the name of Abu Abdur Rahman. “Ilyas, Habeeb and Fahad were given the names of Abu Mansoor, Abu Shabia and Abu Haleema respectively. During their online communication with the IS handlers and for all operational purposes, they were referred to with these names,” an investigator said. Interestingly, they had assigned tasks for themselves and designated accordingly like the module of Junood-al-Khalifa-e-Hind -which was also connected to IS and busted in January. Electrical engineer Ibrahim was ‘Raabit’- in-charge of communications.
Habeeb was referred to as ‘Askari’-taking responsibility of armed matters like procuring weapons, practicing shooting and keeping ammunition. Rizwan was the ‘Mahasib’-the accounts keeper while Ilyas was to look after religious matters.
