Tension returned to Osmania University campus on Wednesday after a degree student from Adilabad district committed suicide by hanging himself to a tree near Arts College.

A suicide note purportedly written by the student Santosh stated that he was ending his life for Telangana. The note said despite serious agitations, the Government was not willing to give separate Telangana State.

The student, B. Santosh is studying in Saraswati degree college in Tukkuguda on the city outskirts.

Hundreds of students gathered near the body and prevented the police from shifting the body to mortuary. Tension escalated with more students assembling there and raising pro –Telangana slogans.

“We’re trying to convince the students about the need for performing autopsy and shift the body. The situation is tense but under control,” the police said.
