Tension at Shobha Yatra

Barring two stone-pelting incidents, the Shobha Yatra held on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti passed off peacefully in the city on Thursday.

Mild tension prevailed when unidentified persons hurled a stone onto a DCM van ferrying persons taking part in the Hanuman Jayanti rally on Ashoknagar-Jawaharnagar stretch in Chikkadpally. As the vehicle’s windscreen got damaged, the devotees got off and squatted on the road demanding action against the miscreants.

Chikkadpally Inspector P. Sridhar and pacified the agitators assuring to take action immediately. In another instance, participants of the rally allegedly hurled stones onto a vehicle transporting animal bones in Kavadiguda even as the rally was progressing. Residents of the locality protested over this, but the police assured to take action once the procession was over. Meanwhile, the Hyderabad police registered eight cases for tying banners and flexi hoardings with objectionable content in the city.
