GHMC Commissioner and Special Officer Somesh Kumar said all the proposals for desilting of the storm water drains before the monsoon will be finalised by the month end and if necessary, approvals will also be given for short tenders for the 760 km length of drains.

The engineering wing was instructed to finalise the proposals this week itself. Similarly, water stagnation points are also to be identified for repair works to be taken up on priority. Work on the maiden white topping of roads for an extent of 2.2 km at Road No.10 in Banjara Hills is part of the civic body’s plan to have such topping in each of the five zones for about 10 km in each. Officials were also urged to identify the manholes without covers and also see that action be taken on priority. Mr. Kumar also received a cheque of Rs.4.08 crore towards property tax by CMC by its senior manager N. Kameshwar Rao for the six buildings it owns in Gachibowli.

Earlier, in the day, Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan was present when new 191 LED system was installed.
