Telugu Internet meet in California

Silicon Andhra, a US-based literary and cultural organisation, is hosting a three-day Telugu International Internet Conference at California from September 28 with the aim of promoting usage of Telugu on Internet.

Information Technology Minister Ponnala Lakshmaiah told reporters here on Thursday that the conference would discuss technical and linguistic aspects for developing Internet-friendly Unicode fonts. He said membership of consortium was taken by the government by paying Rs. 7 lakh.

Ways to standardise and prepare Internet-friendly fonts would be discussed with experts all over the world, Mr. Ponnala added.
