Gulf Telangana Welfare and Cultural Association (GTWCA) provided free return air tickets to 35 persons from Telangana region staying illegally in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and extended amnesty by the government to return to India.

The tickets were distributed by former Union Minister and BJP leader Ch. Vidyasagar Rao at a programme held in the UAE by the GTCWA, said its president Yelishetty Srinivas in a statement here. He said the people hailed from different districts of Telangana region and did not carry the authorised travel documents and the legal residency permits.

They were very poor and could not afford air tickets, and money was raised by the association through donations, he said. The programme was attended by over 250 people identified as illegal workers and waiting to return home.
