July 03, 2013 01:32 am | Updated June 07, 2016 09:38 am IST - HYDERABAD:

An 18-year-old engineering student going to Himayathsagar lake along with his friends to watch the sunrise was killed after being hit by a speeding truck at Rajendranagar on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Mir Jawad Ali, a resident of Santoshnagar, started off from his home in the morning on Pulsar bike.

His two friends, Imran and Salman too accompanied him on another bike. As soon as they reached Acharya N.G. Ranga Agriculture University in Rajendranagar, the lorry, which was entering the university premises, hit Jawad’s bike. He fell down and sustained serious injuries.

No transport

His friends tried to rush the profusely bleeding Jawad to a nearby hospital but could not do so as there was no transport facility. They also complained that the 108 ambulance reached the spot after half-an-hour.

“We could not rush him immediately to a hospital due to non-availability of any mode of transport. Later, he died while being shifted to a nearby private hospital in an ambulance,” Imran said.

Driver flees

The driver fled from the scene after the accident. The police seized the vehicle and launched a manhunt to nab him.
