A ninth standard student was raped and murdered after being abducted while travelling with her father in Bantwaram, 100 km from here, of Ranga Reddy district, the police said on Friday.
The 15-year-old girl was studying in Lingampally in city and residing in her uncle’s house.
On Thursday night, her father, who lives in Izrachittampalli thanda of Bantwaram, came to the city, and they started for the thanda. After getting off the train at Vikarabad, both of them headed for their house on a moped. Around 8.30 p.m., they stopped to drink water after crossing Mothkur junction.
“Her father said that the persons came from behind and took away his daughter in a three-wheeler while he fell unconscious after being hit on head with a rock,” Ranga Reddy SP Srinivas said.
The victim’s father told investigators that he rang up a relative first after regaining consciousness and searched for his daughter all around. At about 1.30 a.m., he approached the Bantwaram police station, complaining that unidentified persons had kidnapped his daughter.
Even as the police began searching for the girl, local residents found her murdered at a secluded place, a kilometre away from where she was abducted, at 9.30 a.m. Special police teams were formed to narrow down on suspects.
A case of kidnap, rape and murder was registered.
