A teacher at a private school, who allegedly misbehaved with a class IX student, was taken into custody by the Meerpet police on Monday.
The teacher, Srinivas Rao, harassed the student sexually by threatening her to cut her marks in the exams , the girl’s parents told the police.
Based on their complaint, the police invoked Section 12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) 2012 and different Sections of Indian Penal Code. “We have taken Srinivas into custody and are verifying the allegation,” Meerpet Sub-Inspector N. Election Reddy said.

The accused person, Abdullah, teased and used offensive language and then molested the woman after an argument over the dress she wore, the police said. The victim studying at a private degree college in the city hails from the Republic of Congo and stays at Tolichowki. Based on a complaint lodged by the victim, the police invoked Nirbhaya Act against him.
B.Tech student arrestedThe city police on Monday arrested a B.Tech student for allegedly making online purchases after illegally obtaining the ATM-cum-debit card details of other persons.
B. Surya Teja (21) of B.N. Reddy Nagar used to frequent ATM centres of Andhra Bank. He used to watch persons withdrawing money from the ATM centres and memorise the ATM card numbers and passwords. He would then visit internet centres, log into the online shopping portals and make purchases of different items, DCP Detective Department G. Pala Raju said.
Teja was caught after a driver, Mohan, approached the police saying that some unknown persons made online purchases using his debit card details.
The Cyber Crime Cell of Hyderabad police registered a case and tracked him after analysing the Internet Protocol numbers.
