The recent crackdown by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) against some of the ongoing unauthorised constructions in Gurukul Trust lands drew sharp criticism from the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders, Yerraballi Dayakara Rao and Mothkupalli Narasimhulu here on Monday.

Interact with residents

The leaders on Monday visited the sites where 24 ongoing constructions were pulled down by the civic body following instructions from Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao to act tough against illegal constructions in the city.

Mr. Yerraballi Dayakara Rao and Mr. Mothkupalli Narasimhulu interacted with several of the residents of Ayyappa Society here and also spoke with some whose construction efforts were affected during the demolitions.

The GHMC had also identified some more constructions as unauthorised and marked them accordingly.

A decision was also taken to impose three time penal electricity and water connection charges from the buildings where the electricity and metro water department had already provided connections.

Since the demolitions were carried out, those affected by the action have been carrying out protests regularly and a couple of rallies were also taken out by them during the last week.
