December 06, 2010 04:26 pm | Updated 04:26 pm IST - HYDERABAD:

A Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader committed suicide by shooting himself with his licensed gun at his house at Narayanguda on Sunday evening due to health problems, the police said.

Police said Bala Narsaiah Goud (75), an excise contractor, was staying in a flat at Tirumala Apartments in Narayanguda along with his family.

He was earlier elected as TDP Valigonda mandal president in Nalgonda district. For the past few months, he was suffering from health problems, including paralysis.

He was discharged from a corporate hospital on Saturday. On hearing loud sound from his room, the family members rushed inside only to find him in a pool of blood.

A suicide note purportedly written by Goud was also found in his room in which he stated that he took the drastic step due to health reasons.
