TDP hits out at Congress Ministers in Andhra Pradesh

September 21, 2009 07:38 pm | Updated 07:38 pm IST - Hyderabad:

The Telugu Desam Party (TDP) on Monday took exception to the reported remarks of some Andhra Pradesh Ministers that the Opposition was trying to scuttle the chances of Y. S. Jaganmohan Reddy becoming the new Chief Minister.

Hitting out at the Ministers, senior TDP leader K. Yerran Naidu wondered how the Opposition parties are involved in deciding who should be the Chief Minister of the Congress Government.

“It is your party’s internal matter. Your party’s high command takes a decision on the issue. How are we concerned,” he told reporters.

It is political bankruptcy of the Ministers to say that the Opposition parties are waiting for mid-term elections, Naidu said.

The Ministers are more interested in choosing a successor to Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy rather than discharging their responsibilities, he alleged.

Some of the Ministers had rushed to actor-MLA Chiranjeevi, seeking his party’s support to the Congress Government even before the body of Rajasekhara Reddy, who died in a chopper crash, arrived in Hyderabad, Mr. Naidu claimed.
