The Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee lodged a formal complaint with the Chief Electoral Officer against TDP president N. Chandrababu Naidu accusing him of violating the election code of conduct by participating in a religious meeting.

According to the Telangana Congress members, Mr. Naidu had attended a meeting of Catholic Religious Forum held in the city on March 31 where he had made provocative statements.

In the complaint, it was also pointed out that Mr. Naidu had promised free housing sites and grants to Christians and missionary organisations if the TDP comes to power. Stating that his actions amounted to “religious propaganda”, they requested the Chief Electoral Officer to initiate action against Mr. Naidu.
