Tatas evince interest in 100 MW solar power unit

Tata Power, an arm of Tata Group has showed its willingness to take up generation of 100 MW solar power plant in Telangana.

The assurance came during interaction the Information Technology Minister K.T.Rama Rao had with the Tata Group chairman Cyrus Mistry and other top honchos of nine other Tata companies in Mumbai on Tuesday.

Mr. Rao explained the new industrial policy of the Telangana government and the State’s flagship projects like Water Grid, T-HUB, RICH, industrial corridors, Smart City, Solar Power park, Aerospace Park, housing for the poor, improvement of civic amenities in Hyderabad.

The Tata Group expressed an interest in utilising wastelands for development of biomass for generating renewable energy. They have identified feasibility of wind power in Telangana, which they would explore.

Tata Realty group has expertise in industrial township projects, and they agreed to develop a Greenfield industrial township at an appropriate location along with processing and non-processing area.

They would support the State’s efforts to develop an electronic hardware manufacturing park near Hyderabad. This arm of the Tata Sons offered services to study the transportation systems in Hyderabad City and work out the possibility of a light rail system as a feeder to Metro Rail.

The Tata Advanced Systems already has aerospace projects in Hyderabad and promised to take up new projects in the Adibatla Aerospace Park and the upcoming aerospace extension park. Tata Projects expressed an interest to participate in execution of the water grid project.

A press release from the IT Minister’s office said Tata Group Chairman was impressed by the T-HUB, which would become the largest incubation centre in the country once it was launched. He committed the support of TCS to the project and agreed to explore the possibility of Tata Innovations Fund to take up equity in the project. Tata Housing came forward to take up slum redevelopment schemes.
