The State Government has decided to constitute task force teams consisting of officials from Revenue, Police, Animal Husbandry and Vigilance departments to check reports on irregularities in distribution of sheep in some parts of the State.
The task force teams will visit the districts where the programme is under implementation to ascertain whether there were any irregularities in the scheme and suggest remedial measures. The Government had already registered cases against people indulging in sale of the cattle supplied to them at subsidised prices in Nalgonda and Mahabubnagar districts and recovered the animals that were sold.
Animal Husbandry Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav said the Government was firm on taking stringent action against those found guilty of irregularities in the scheme that received appreciation from several other States. A toll-free number has been set up for people to register their complaints as and when they notice lapses in the implementation of the scheme. People could, accordingly, call the number 1800 599 3699 between 8 am and 5 pm to register their complains so that officials concerned could initiate prompt action.
He said the department had so far distributed 23.80 lakh animals to 1.13 lakh beneficiaries under the scheme and problems like alleged recycling of the animals by some beneficiaries had come to the notice of the officials concerned. The process of insuring the animals was also not completed for technical reasons and the insurance firms had been told to complete the process soon failing which the Government would not hesitate in replacing the selected insurers, he added.
