Review meet on skill development programmes discusses funds due to State

Efforts should be made to get maximum funds for skill development programmes under the Central Government schemes, said Chief Secretary S.P. Singh here on Saturday.

He held a review meeting on Skill Development programmes at the Secretariat.

The meeting attended by B.P. Acharya, Special Chief Secretary, Planning Department; S. Ramakrishna Rao, Principal Secretary, Finance; Jayesh Ranjan, Secretary, Industries; Rajat Kumar, Principal Secretary, Labour; TASK Chief Executive Officer Sujiv Nair and others discussed the formulation of skill development policy and coordination among different departments.

The meeting discussed the funds due to Telangana State for skill development programmes under various Central schemes like Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, apprenticeship programme, Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Grameen Kaushalya Yojana and other schemes.

Mr. Singh said funds should also be procured for skill training from various organisations under the Corporate Social Responsibility, Members of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD), Member of Legislative Assembly/Member of Legislative Council Development Funds and make the young men and women employable.

There was a great requirement for skilled personnel in the State and serious efforts should be made in this direction.

He also emphasised on designing of training programmes, setting up placement cells, providing required infrastructre for skill training and having project monitoring unit in place.
