“Build something of value. Talk to customers before you start. Developers build without talking. Talk. The customer has a problem and you have a solution. You don’t have a problem,” this was the crisp message of Paul Smith, globe-trotter, writer and evangelist of startup life at the 13-week Spark10 Acceleration Program.
As dozens of youngsters soaked in the gyan by Paul Smith, ten startups where handpicked by him and Spark 10 team for mentoring over 13 weeks.
While five of the startups are from AP/Telangana, five are from different parts of the country.
“You must make mistakes. The biggest mistake is not trying, keep going till you are successful. When you fail you learn something,” said Paul as the startup teams waited with bated breath to find the names of the ideas that made the cut.
At stake is not just Rs. 10 lakh per startup but also the mentoring help promised by Spark10 team.
Thota Santosh’s FeltSo is city-based startup that promises to disrupt the way people access reviews.
“Our intelligence engine can read most unstructured product reviews and present the gist in a more user friendly way,” he promises. Carzip is another car care app which can help you book service or repair of your car through a web or mobile-based app.
Before the ten winners among the 500-odd startups were named, Jayesh Ranjan, Telangana IT Secretary, said the State will come out with a innovation and startup policy to help people with ideas.
“On April 4, we are going to release a policy framework for startups and innovators which will help anyone who has the next big idea,” he said.
