Andhra Pradesh Minister for Information Technology and Non Resident Indians Empowerment Palle Raghunatha Reddy on Wednesday sought the intervention of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj to bring back home safely workers of Kurnool district who are stranded in Libya.

In a letter to Ms. Swaraj, he said many persons from Andhra Pradesh, in particular from Cement Nagar in Kurnool district, had migrated to Libya in search of livelihood and they got stranded in the ongoing civil war in Libya.

Tough time

He said the workers had apparently told their family members that they were left with nothing and facing innumerable detriments and were without support or assistance from the Indian Embassy. Their safe return to India has become difficult.

He urged the External Affairs Minister to issue instructions to the Embassy officials in Libya.
