Surprise showers bring cheer

Residents of the city were in for some cheer on Tuesday evening with several areas witnessing surprise showers.

While some places were greeted with moderate rainfall, others witnessed just a drizzle, but enough to force motorists and pedestrians to scurry for cover. While children ventured out to get drenched, those active on social media sites posted pictures of the rain.

Overcast sky and a slight drop in temperatures preceded the rain. Met officials attributed moisture incursions from the south-east coupled with cloudy atmosphere to drizzle. The situation was likely to continue for another day, they said, adding that minimum temperatures were between 18 and 19 degrees Celsius for the past few days.

While Shamshabad and its surroundings reported moderate rainfall, areas like Ameerpet, Banjara Hills, Jubilee Hills, Srinagar Colony, Yousufguda, Vanasthalipuram, Kacheguda, RTC crossroads, Himayathnagar, A.S. Rao Nagar, Padmaraonagar, Gachibowli, and many other localities witnessed drizzle.
