A private employee from Kadapa district attempted suicide near Raj Bhavan by consuming pesticide on Friday.

Twenty-nine-year-old D. Pavan Kumar was found lying unconscious at Dilkusha guest house adjacent to Raj Bhavan around 1 p.m. “He was carrying a bottle of pesticide and a note detailing reasons for attempting to kill himself,” Punjagutta Inspector S. Mohan Kumar said.

The note suggested that he attempted suicide dejected over failing to get back the money he had paid to a LIC agent. Mr. Kumar claimed that he had paid Rs. 50,000 and Rs. 7.4 lakh on different dates to an insurance company agent Rammohan of Kadapa a few years ago.

He maintained that the agent refused to return his money despite repeated requests. The private employee stated in the note that he had met the then Chief Minister N. Kiran Kumar Reddy in August last and submitted a memorandum seeking return of his money.

The CM reportedly directed the Kadapa SP to take action. The complaint was referred to the Yeerragunta police station but the police officer concerned colluded with the other party, Kumar charged in the note. Depressed over justice being denied, he attempted suicide.

The Punjagutta police shifted him to a hospital and registered a case of attempting suicide under section 309 of Indian Penal Code.
