Sub-registrar’s properties run into crores: ACB

The investigation taken up by the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) into the disproportionate assets case of suspended Sub-Registrar of Medchal, Venkat Ramesh Chander Reddy, has revealed that the tainted officer owns a number of properties.

According to the ACB officials, Mr. Reddy indulged in illegal and corrupt practices while discharging his duty to acquire assets. A case under the Prevention of Corruption Act was registered against him leading to the investigation. The ACB officials conducted searches at the houses of Reddy, his relatives and his benamis. During the searches, properties worth ₹4 crore were unearthed that includes 3.5 kg gold, ₹ 1 crore in bank accounts, ₹ 30 lakh in fixed deposits, 10 acres agriculture land and two flats. One plot and one car was also unaccounted for.
