Trouble erupted in some parts of the Telangana region and in Hyderabad where students went on the rampage near the vicinity of the Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences following unfounded reports about a sudden deterioration in the condition of fasting Telangana Rashtra Samithi president K. Chandrasekhara Rao on Saturday.
NIMS doctors promptly scotched the reports aired by a television channel that the leader had slipped into coma. They said he was speaking to the numerous visitors calling on him and that all his vital parameters were stable, though he was weak because he was not eating for the past one week. He was shifted to the intensive coronary care unit (ICCU) only to facilitate continuous monitoring of his health and for administering prompt treatment in the event of an emergency.
This clarification came after four truckloads of students, who came to the NIMS, were told that he was in bad shape. They rushed outside and began pelting stones on at least a dozen malls and shops like Big Bazaar, Chandana Brothers and RK besides several buses of the APSRTC damaging their glass windows.
