Schoolchildren and college students got an insight into space science and how space technology can be used for the betterment of human life at an open exhibition organised at the Balanagar and Jeedimetla branches of the National Remote Sensing Centre (NRSC) that are observing the World Space Week.
The programme, organised in association with Space Adhyaan, was inaugurated by Y.V.N. Krishna Murthy, Director, NRSC at Balanagar on Wednesday. The event was graced by V. Bhanumurthy, Associate Director, WG CMR; Vibhas Singh Gupta, Controller, NRSC; Deputy Directors B. Gopalakrishna, P.V.N. Rao, M.V.R Seshasai and Raghu Venkatraman, along with other senior scientists of NRSC. Mr. Krishna Murthy apprised the guests of the importance and potential of earth observation, communication and navigation in good governance. He urged the students to make the best use of the outreach facility and come up with novel and innovative applications on remote sensing data.
Quiz and drawing competitions for schoolchildren would be organised during the celebrations and the winners would be given away prizes at the concluding event at IMGEOS facility, Shadnagar, on October 9 and 10. More than 1,000 students from various schools and colleges visited the NRSC where they got to see a number of models.
